Weekly update 002 - 2016-10-24 : Chicago is still Beautiful

Ferris Wheel at the Chicago Navy Pier, Chicago, USA

Continuing on from last week's Chicago dominated post, this week we have more Chicago! This time focussing on the area near the Navy Pier, once a Navy training center, these days a crowd pleaser with carnival rides, restaurants & shops. And some incredible views of the city's skyline and lake Michigan. On the way to the pier passed through some very industrial looking bridges, which clearly were not meant as pedestrian passages, but do give some moody images. Also added a couple of photos from the 'L' tour , run by the Architecture Foundation, with a view of the Trump Tower. And the inside of the Symphony Center, where the tour started and ended. If you're in Chicago and want to know more about the city, I highly recommend one of the Architecture Foundation tours.

Scroll to the end if you want a taste of Scotland...

As promised here is a sneak peak of Scotland, from this Summer lovely excursion to the Highlands and the Outer Hebrides. Taken at the Port of Ness beach on Harris Island, the north most island of the Hebridean archipelago.

I'll be back next week with another batch of photos from Chicago's Millennium and Grant Parks.

#project365 year1 [day 011] Daillies from Scotland

Day after the trip has ended and now I have a couple of thousand of photos to go through and sort out, so I thought I would show the last of the daillies I had prepared. This time from the Donald clan castle. Tomorrow the theme will change completely as I will rely of older photos I haven't published yet.

Last day of the trip, and only had time for a quick stop at the Edradour distillery near Pitlochry, and then the long drive back to Edinburgh to catch the plane back home. Need to go back and do the tour and tasting.

#project365 year1 [day 006] Dailies from Scotland

Day 6 of the road trip and we have left the Scottish mainland... Is it still mainland even though Great Britain is an island? Anyway, we are now in the Hebrides off the West coast of Scotland, on the beautiful Lewis island. Getting the ferry from Ullapool seems to be the best way to get here, as it makes for a great trip with gorgeous scenery.

Day 5 got us to our first taste of whisky at the Glenmorangie distillery just outside Tain, on our way from Inverness to the Highlands West coast north of Ullapool. Has as been the case the last few days, the day starts grey but the sun dominates the sky by lunch time.

Day 3 of our Scottish road trip starts at the shores of Loch Lomond, and took us up to Glen Coe. Along the way passing through the hidden Falls of Falloch, and up to the Glencoe Sky resort which has breath taking views and a bicycle downhill course for the adrenaline junkies. Picture of the day was taken at Loch Leven where todays journey ended.

Driving from Edinburgh to Loch Lomond, passing through Stirling to take a look at the Castle. Stopped by Brea Restaurant for acouple of nice gourmet burgers, before attempting the climb up hill towards the castle. I do recommend a brief stop at café by the Church of the Holy Rude.
